Gillingham Primary School

PSHE

The national curriculum states that ‘all schools should make provision for personal, social, health and economic education’ (PSHE).

PSHE education enables children to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe, and prepare for life and work in modern Britain. A well-delivered PSHE programme has a positive impact on both academic and non-academic outcomes for pupils.

At Gillingham Primary, we believe that Jigsaw is the best resource available for providing our children with an exciting and engaging PSHE curriculum that appeals to learners from Reception right through to Year 6. There are 6 Jigsaw Puzzles (half-termly units), each made up of 6 lessons. These are designed so the whole school can study the same learning themes at the same time, with each year group working at its own level. The 6 Jigsaw Puzzle themes are:

Being Me in My World

Celebrating Difference

Dreams and Goals

Healthy Me

Relationships

Changing Me

To help you find out more about each of these themes, Jigsaw has produced the following guide specifically for parents and carers of children attending schools that follow the Jigsaw approach to PSHE. Please do not hesitate to ask your child’s teacher if you have any further questions regarding our PSHE curriculum.
