We have had a great week learning about knights through our topic 'Peasants, Princes and Pestilence'. In English the children have been taking notes about knights and then using these to create their own fact file.
In music we have been creating new verses to the hymn 'when a knight won his spurs'. The children worked in groups to create a verse about a king, lord or peasant while maintaining the style of the song. The children have done an amazing job and we have included some of the finished verses.
In Maths the children have been focusing on place value, tackling numbers to 1 million. We have also started to work on negative numbers. The children have shown great enthusiasm for this learning and enjoyed using out desk legs to create a number line. Keep an eye out for negative numbers over the next couple of weeks!
In Jigsaw the children have been learning about our British values and the rights we have under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. These can be found in ‘child speak’ below should you want to discuss these at home.
In R.E we have been focusing on Sikhism, specifically what Sikhs are committed to and how they show these commitments. The children have then been using this to think about commitment in their own lives and we have been sharing our thoughts. The children have identified many commitments they want to keep including commitments to clubs, equality and those we love.
