Gillingham Primary School

PARENT / CARER / CHILDREN'S VIEWS

Dear Parents, Carers and Children of Gillingham Primary School, As we draw to the end of the summer term, we have had time to reflect at school.

Who could have imagined at the beginning of the school year that we would end it in the way we have? It was definitely not in our plans!

However, moving forward we want the best for the children at our school so we are busy thinking about what our new normal looks like and how we can be prepared for all possible future situations.

Our main purpose is to educate the children of Gillingham Primary and we want to do this regardless of what else is happening outside our school. We want our children to aspire and engage in all their educational opportunities as much as they can. The Government has worked to put in place facilities that will allow us to provide consistent learning opportunities for students who may need to self-isolate due to Covid 19 to prevent them being disadvantaged with their learning.

We will continue to work on this over the summer but if possible, we would like to get some information from our families to help us ensure the plans we put in place are best for our children. We have created two, fairly short (10 minutes max.), questionnaires - one for children and one for adults – we would like your thoughts on the experiences you have just had of home learning; what worked and what was difficult.

We will then work over the summer to ensure we create our new provision for September with your thoughts in mind - just in case we ever need to do this again. We wish you all a restful and safe summer and we look forward to welcoming you all back at Gillingham Primary in September.

Many thanks in anticipation...
